Shopify - a great e-commerce solution
17 October, 2011
I’m currently building my eighth shopify site for a client – here’s why I rate it so much as an e-commerce solution. (This blog originally appeared on www.sellitbaby.co.uk but I thought it was worth repeating it here – it’s still all my own work)
- Even though I’m a bit of a geeky girl you don’t have to know HTML to be able to get started
- It’s a great way to dip your toe in the water and find out if you have a great product that people want – without going to the expense of a hugely bespoke e-commerce system
- … but equally it’s brilliantly scalable and capable of handling whatever your customers throw at it
- You can choose from a range of free templates – and they’re beautifully customisable even with no knowledge of HTML
- Or you can choose from a selection of very reasonably priced templates
- Or you can get a geek (like me – or any of the other shopify developers) to customise a theme for you
- You don’t need to go to the expense of your own secure merchant payment gateway
- … but you can if you want to
- Integrating Paypal payments pro makes checkout a seamless experience (less said about Paypal the better though)
- Products are added to Google shopping quickly and easily
- There are some superb apps to help you market your store
- The orders interface is intuitive and easy to use
- It collects data about abandon rates
- The support is excellent – I’m quite fussy about support and the shopify team have never failed to impress
- It starts from $29 a month
- It’s used by brands you’d recognise on the shelf
If you’d like a quick demo then drop me a line. I’ve seriously not found anything I don’t like about it and I’m happy to nominate them as one of my love marks.
